Janet Kusmierski
Born in Queens, NY, I currently reside in Lower Manhattan.
I studied Illustration and Painting at Parsons School of Design graduating with a BFA followed by an MA from
Hunter College in Studio Art.
For the past 10 years I have been designing and illustrating childrens books.
My illustrations are hand sewn felt figures of plush material over a wire armature - posed and photographed against a 3D or 2-D background.
I have exhibited paintings and drawings at the Elizabeth Harris Gallery, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, The Drawing Center, Everson Museum and assorted universities and galleries across the country.
