Celebrated children’s book author and illustrator Matt Faulkner has been
penning and painting books for kid’s since 1985. His first illustrated book, a
rendition of “Jack and the Beanstalk” (Scholastic Inc.) has sold over 1/2
million copies world wide. Matt delights in illuminating both historic stories
and more fanciful tales and he works very hard not to get the two mixed up.
Recent works include “Thank You Sarah, The Woman Who Saved
Thanksgiving” (Simon and Schuster), a story about the 18th century publisher
and phenomenon Sarah Hale (and recipient of the 2003 Simon Wiesenthal
Foundation’s “Once Upon A World” Children’s book award) and “The Monster
Who Ate My Peas” (Peachtree Publ.), a rollicking tale about a wily young lad,
his dog Ralph and the rascally monster who offered to eat their peas (and
recipient of both the 2005 Indiana Children’s Choice Award for Best Picture
Book the 2006 Virginia Children’s Choice Award for Best Picture Book). Look
for his newest author/illustrated title from Simon and Schuster "A Taste of
Colored Water" in January of 2008. Matt lives with his son Gabe and their two
cats on a small island in San Francisco Bay, California (no, not Alcatraz).
