Kristin Abbott was struck with an epiphany while helping with storytime in the
preschool classroom with one of her children. She realized that she loved story
telling, loved children's books, loved spending time thinking of ways to amuse
children. After her third child was born she changed careers, entered art school
and found that illustration was immensely satisfying, and illustrating for
children was a natural choice for her. She graduated from the Academy of Art
University in San Francisco in 2006 with her degree in Illustration. She has
produced a steady stream of commissioned illustration work, book covers,
picture books, illustrations for both educational and commercial customers.
Also, once upon a time she received a BA in American Studies (1988) from
Stanford University and worked for a while as a journalist.
