Erik Sorensen
In early 2004, Erik graduated from The American Academy of Art in Chicago with a B.F.A. in Illustration.
Under the instruction of noted Illustration and Fine Art veterans, Sorensen matured as an artist and developed his skills; the range of which include the ability to create his trademark images in the multiple genres of the Editorial, Advertising and Children’s Illustration. “Erik’s work is so recognizable and widely applicable that those qualities become a trademark in itself,” notes a former Academy peer. “I’ve always had a love for Illustration, but just what to do with it wasn’t always so clear.” says Sorensen, encountering the inevitable bumps and forks in the road. “I always felt like Illustration chose me. I just had to decide where to go with it.” he adds.
The path to what would eventually lead to a satisfying Illustration career has involved a great deal of determination though trial and error, uncertainty and a great deal of developing.“You always hear from those ”Naysayers” when you choose an unorthodox career. Especially one that doesn’t have a predetermined blueprint for success.” says Sorensen. “People are going to tell you certain things can’t be done. You just have to kind of shake those things off and continue doing what you love to do.” Devoted to taking his Illustration to the next level, Erik continues to expand in the Illustration industry with no signs of braking on the horizon.
Erik has most recently illustrated the nationally published children's book, "Little Red Riding Hood", re-adapted by Larry Carney and published by PC Treasures, Inc. It is available at Target, Walmart, Safeway, Amazon.com and other outlets.
