David Mercer
I make watercolor-tinted scratchboard engravings of graphic strength and
immediacy. My purpose is to provide visual depth to a story. Using common
tools, I simplify complex concepts to reveal their emotional essence. I have
travelled and worked as a graphic designer, artist, illustrator and teacher
through the Pacific, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, South Africa, Mexico and
the United States. My wife and I run The Young Artist’s Studio, an art school
for children, teens and adults in our studio home on an inlet of Puget Sound
in Washington State.
