Tim Bowers
Tim Bowers is an award-winning illustrator, displaying a diverse range of artwork. His exceptional handling of realistic, stylized and cartoon imagery allows him to create the appropriate art for a variety of markets. Telling stories, solving design problems and bringing concepts to life in a creative way are qualities that define his artwork.
Bowers graduated from the Columbus College of Art & Design (Ohio) and started his career in advertising and editorial illustration. After being recruited by Hallmark Cards, he worked for five years in various humor groups and was chosen to help launch the successful Shoebox Greetings line.
Tim’s first children’s book, THE TOY CIRCUS by Jan Wahl, was published in 1986. Since then, his children’s book illustrations have enhanced the stories of some of America’s most popular children’s book authors and have received such honors/awards as the Children’s Choice Award, Child Magazine- Best Children’s Book Award, Chicago Public Library’s “Best of the Best” list, and several of his books have been chosen as Junior Library Guild selections. Tim Bowers’ illustrations have also been included in the Society of Illustrator’s Annual Art Exhibition, The S.I. Humor Exhibition, The Original Art Exhibition- Celebrating the Fine Art of Children’s Book Illustration and the Mazza Museum- International Art from Picture Books. Original paintings from several of Tim’s books are in private and institutional collections across the United States.
In addition to his book work, his whimsical and humorous characters have been featured on numerous gift and paper products.
Tim now lives with his family in Granville, Ohio. To date, he has illustrated more than twenty children’s books and his artwork is published in children’s magazines and by leading card companies in the United States.
Each year, Tim Bowers travels to schools and libraries to share his artwork with students of all ages and, on occasion, teaches cartooning classes to local children.
